Cultural Arts

Home to various Filipino artists and art organizations, for decades SOMA Pilipinas has been a center for Filipino American art throughout the US. Our goal is to continue this legacy by promoting partnering and promoting Filipino arts and cultural organizations and supporting community artists and cultural workers who serve as our storytellers, healers, teachers and historians.

DUGO, I don’t want her to go

Magic Theatre - Aug 26 & 27, 8PM

Presented by Sean San José in partnership with Rachel Lastimosa, Patricia Barretto Ong, and Joan Osato, and sponsored by SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Cultural Heritage District, this poignant performance revisits a world before AIDS. The project delves into the profound impact of the disease on marginalized communities and the echoes of loss it left behind. "Dugo", meaning 'blood' in Tagalog, takes attendees on a reflective journey through the tapestry of stories tied by blood - representing AIDS, Filipino heritage, family, and resilience. Join us in this evocative commemoration as we remember and reimagine the lives of Filipinx families before the AIDS era in San Francisco's SOMA Pilipinas neighborhood. Tickets: $20.
